New 6-week classes start this Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Mystic River Dance Studio in Memphis!
In the belly dance class, we’ll be learning a beautiful scarf choreography by Shahna of little Rock. The music is Lei Khalinee Ahbelk. It requires two narrow silk scarves (about 3 inches wide by 3 feet in length). We’ll have scarves on hand to borrow or for purchase at the start of the class. The dance features lane changes, cascades, mirroring a partner and other group formations.
The yoga + pilates focuses on mind-body awareness. We’ll focus on toning core muscles, breath work, concentration and balance. Each class ends with a relaxation exercise.

Donation dance and yoga classes are intended to support a community of giving and sharing. All proceeds go to support the Family Safety Center of Memphis, in support of their work to serve families affected by domestic violence.
Here we have an Argentinian man teaching Middle Eastern dance to Chinese women.
…and that pretty much sums it up.
Thank you Oscar Flores for sharing this beautiful artform today! And thank you to the Sisters of the Phoenix for organizing the workshop.
I hope you will join us this week for a restorative yoga practice. Support your own health and well-being while supporting the health and well-being of your community. Win-win.
Shimmy Mob Memphis wants you to join the movement!
On May 10, 2014 we will Flash Mob our fellow Memphians as we dance to raise awareness and funds for the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County.
